I thought it was mainly about maintaining boundaries, anonymity, and personal privacy/security.

Knowing where each other lives, spending time in their home, etc. starts to lean towards them having an actual relationship, so him knowing where she works is actually unusual. They didn’t even know each other’s name until after they had sex the second time and exchanged contact info.
