That kinda defeats the purpose of a what-if doesn’t it? Especially if it’s not canon.
What-if or not, generally i've never seen any morbid what-if that landed well with core audience.
Tbh, again, i am of opinion, authors can draw whatever they like, but people don't have to like it.
To me, the main thing is -integrity-, i just don't like original authors writing the what-if ntr's for their non-ntr works, doesn't matter how canon they are or not. To me it's not an excuse, at the end of the day ntr is a niche, relatively big as far as they go, but still a niche, so when author's write stories with bigger appeal, nobody should be surprised or complain when fans pushback on such what-ifs.
Let authors write original works if they must do that genre, but i don't wanna see author making such what-ifs for their normal stuff.
As i said, they can do it, but they should not be surprised when people push back and/or stop reading original work. People like when author's show their integrity and not do it, we expect different things from them, when it comes to treating their original work.
