That corrupt inspector is likely going to reappear to cause trouble again. Essentially his word against theirs and wouldn't be surprising if he or his family bribes a judge to cover up his wrongdoings back at the capital. Also, other nobles in capital probably feel they have the divine right to impart their blessings on commoners or murder them on a whim so justice has probably been absent from the courts for a long time. No fort is impregnable, just really, really hard to invade. Although with their rep it wouldn't be amiss if the commander in charge made a few critical mistakes due to hubris. Plan is likely either to draw out forces inside, dig a tunnel, or something really clever. Granted it's great Diethart is willing to help out, but seems a little too accommodating. For some reason I get the feeling that when he said it was for love he wasn't talking about Altina, but Regis. After all, when they captured him he thought things might have been different if he had a strategist like Regis helping him and had an odd look on his face. Guess will just have to keep reading to find out but would love to see Regis' face if so.
