The more I re-read this series, the more unhinged I realize it really is. We don't notice since everything is cute and almost mundane but from this chapter, we look at the bones that Sen works with and might think nothing of it.
Usually, in human centric stories, people who raise skeletons from people who were once living are usually seen as even (though some rare exceptions apply) and the people seen as good necromancers usually have animal skeletons, which is supposed to somehow make it better (despite them having their own thoughts and feelings and communication).
However, just from the prior chapter, looking at the people in town, we realize that everything is possibly an intelligent being: insects, snakes, mice, frogs... so whose bodies did Sen raise and conviently used for building materials? Were they intelligent too or not? Did they allow themselves to be raised as skeletons after they died?
Also, they mentioned dried meat. What is the meat from, other than perhaps fish in the hopes they are not intelligent beings in this story?
