Japan has always had a hard time accepting and dealing with different sexuailty and gender. Its clear the mangka even had a hard time pitching the story because it one big taboo roll into what 3 volumes? Trying to explore a transexual character, that isn't meant to be haha funny joke. Then explore that character sexuailty when it comes to there gender. Because it hell all around, your trans and your bi, but you originally thought you were gay. (Don't get me started on how she actually straight not gay because she is trans female.)

Try doing all that, while also handling a girl coming to term about her childhood crushing becoming a women. And realizing she loves her for her. Man or women doesn't change the feeling. That she too may not be all that straight in the first place either. Or use the love bl trope of i only love you.

Its a difficult subject and can be see as fetishists or ignorant if not done with care. This story does a C+ job of handling it.

It clear at the end, the Man love interest tires to transition back into a male mindset for the female love interest. Now i would have liked it if the character was like putting back on her female clothing before kissing Hina. Instead of just saying she can't be a male for her. But they still love eachother, it would have been more impactful. But i have the feeling the mangaka had enough of a hard time just wrapping the story up.

So for all of that and a decent romance. It gets a C, the improper use of pronouns gets annoying tho but then again the main lead never shows issue so we all gotta chill.

@Aku111 Sexuality, huh. The Japanese still cannot decide whether lesbians are asexual maidens with poor experience with men or perverted women with male thinking who are obsessed with sex. And you are talking about such complex things.

I think the mangaka just rolled up to an okama bar, had some fun, and said "damn I now know what the Transgender Experience™ is, lemme do a quick manga". A pity, because done properly we could have had a cool exploration of sexuality and gender with both Itsuki and Hina, but as it is it just seems confused at all times.

It's weird how sometimes there were parts where they seemed to get it though?? Like the chats on the bar with Maru (I think that was her name?) and the wedding part, but it would just return to the usual mid affair. As said, a pity, wish it was better.
