Thank you for the update! I read this when it was first posted and remembered it again recently. Glad it wasn't dropped because I'm drawn to the story.

The witch likely visited her that night, and I have a feeling the prophecy that "when love becomes true love, everything will end" means more that the curse will end than the ominous end of (her life?) that I feel like they're implying.

Judging by the context, servents reactions and possible the kings as well as the prince's attitude on page 33 and 34 its likely he was forced into doing it leaving him scarred emotionaly and his thought and opinions altered as well
