It's been almost a decade since this series ended and no matter how many times I re-read it, I still end up crying my eyes out... While Hana to Akuma wasn't perfect, the love story between Hana and Vivi still remain one of my favorites.
As much as the ending makes me cry every time, I still wouldn't change a thing. I love the symbolism that Hana represents in their relationship--a flower that, in full bloom, is breathtakingly beautiful and alive yet whose life is so bitterly short... I really love the fact that the author didn't make Hana immortal (even though part of me wished for it...) because it meant that despite knowing how their love story would end, Vivi still chose to stay by Hana's side to the very end. Love isn't just destiny or happily ever after endings; it's a choice and they both chose each other.
