Review: This manga will seem very dated relative to other more recent shoujo, but it was very influential for its time and is a landmark in the Romance Drama genre. Like many shoujo which were not written anticipating long-running success, Hana Yori Dango loses steam and becomes a drama of misunderstandings and errors.

Well, I hope good full scanlations of this come out at some point. I remember reading scans of it on another site and eventually it just reached chapters that were literally untranslated and you were just left to imagining the translated versions of arguments the characters were having.

A classic. One of the first mangas I ever read, and it will always have a special place in my heart. Having said that, I feel like it did go longer than it had to. I also wished the mangaka
let Rui moved on and either find his own person or a thing he enjoys doing, by the end he kinda felt a bit pitiful.
Highly recommended, the artworks gets much better each volume too.

Got to say you translators are goddamn heroes for releasing this many chapters at once.

I still remember trying to read this before. I had to use 5-6 different sites because they either missed chapters or had them out of order.

I have never been into Shoujo but man this paved the way. What a great story! I love the character development as well. I do fee like it went on a little longer than it needed to (by only a volume tbh) and I feel like there could have been a little more to the story if they were going to drag it along (more intimate moments or drama)

So fantastic and shout out to the translators. In a different site I was trying to read this on, they didn't even have the ending and several of the chapters were not translated all the way or they put the translation on top of the Japanese so it was illegible. I was able to go back on here and clear some of it up so thank you!!

Slows down a lot in the middle but picks up quite a bit once the third act starts. The chapters have missing dialogue past ch52 or so, for that I recommend getting the Viz app and purchasing the "weekly shounen jump" add-on since, for some reason, it will then let you read the rest of the series without purchasing all the volumes separately.

Toxic!! Yikes. I disliked this one more than the series. At least the series they were at least likable. Dragged on for too long, got bored, moved on, and now I’m here.

Yet another manga with a somewhat stupid ending. Needless to say, all the male characters are insane but they do "save the cat" fairly often to balance things out. Overall a solid 7/10.
