It was pretty big of the son to take the first step towards finally breaking the cycle his dad started, IRL there are a ton of people who are incapable of that level of introspection. He still pisses me off, mind you, but I can see now he's not a bad person at heart ; he's just insecure and he never knew any better to start with.
