I actually like how there's a little complexity to the backstory of the curse where you can kinda blame everyone at least somewhat. Makes it seem like resolving it won't be very straightforward.

Look, I'm siding with Tokichi on this one. If we hear this right, the village is gonna get raided whether Tokichi was there or not. If anything, the massacre is on the villagers themselves.

The settlement and village are both pretty bad but ya gotta admit tho the village dudes were the root cause of all this

The phrase, "the gods lost interest in us," is pretty interesting. Cuz like, if gods get super pissed off at you for not following them that implies that they need you or care a lot about you and are still sort of invested in what you're doing.

If they lose interest you're safe from smiting but you're a lot more boned if you ever need them for something.

Imagine you and your family got killed bc some asshole in your town or like your jerk distant relative commite terrible thing. Eye for eye is only just endless cycle of revenge. Collective punishment is hella shit. Revenge is wildfire that blind on their target and push everything.
