Jeez this was a work of art.

Love the parallels between the two of them and the conversations. They really are mother & daughter: same worries, same concern for the other, same bottomless stomach (relatable).

I really like that 'Food' has become the barometer for how well characters are doing in this series. Given how important food can be as a social aspect of life--whether that's at home, or anywhere you're with friends and loved ones--and when things are going wrong or bad or poorly, the desire to eat vanishes. Once things are solved and settled and swell again, the stomach comes a'knockin'.
It's a simple metaphor and vehicle for the emotional beats of the plot, but it works very, very well for this story and its cast.
Glad to see that Minori has someone she can turn to now, though. Natsuki seems like a great kid, and she really could use that all-important "non-adult support" and person who she can be around and not feel like she has to act the grown up. Plus, he looks up to Takaharu and genuinely likes Minori, so I foresee only increasingly good things in the lives of these four as things move forward.

Now we just need Kyou and Takaharu to take those final steps in admitting what they both want. It's one thing for Minori to start figuring out her life, but Kyou's in the same boat, if in a different light. She's allowed to reach for her own happiness as well. And with Minori gaining a better foundation every day and finding more and more comfort and security in their life with Takaharu, I hope that Kyou starts to realize that she can think for herself, a bit (a lot).
And same for Takaharu, of course.

Thanks for the TL.

This mother is sleazy scumbag LMAO

Aside from getting free food and housing, she also gets mental support!

She's living the good scumbag life
Just kindly fuck off. You are clearly just trying to annoy people with your antagonistic take. I find it absolutelt hilarious that you are passing judgement about someone leeching free food, and free mental support when you are probably still a fucking child leeching off your parents, or worse. An adult still leeching off his parents. Grow up.

I really like the series, but he is right in the end. She is kind of a scumbag for how she handled her whole situation.

Not familiar with the Japanese schooling system but pretty sure the daughters 17 so why would she be heading to high school is that translation mistake and actually meant college?

Look like the mother and daughter will make up soon but not sure if they will get over yet both them mutually overprioritizing each other think that will take some time unless this mangas soon about to head to its ending. Which seems likely since the mother's going to get a new place and the daughter might be heading to college soon.

Minori is 14. She's going into 1st year of high school.

Kyou has stopped looking for a new place for the time being; they're not moving out of Takaharu's place as of this point in the narrative.

There is a lot more to it than that. Look at it from her pov. Husband dies, she has no income, she has a daughter. She would lose her daughter if she was homeless. Sure its a little opportunistic, but does that make her a scumbag for trying to make sure her daughter doesn't get put into foster care? Is it bad for her to prioritize her own daughter over herself, and her love life? She has made it clear that her daughter is her number one priority right now. I genuinely don't see how she is a scumbag especially when HE isn't even opposed to this arrangement. Hell if she is a scumbag so is he for taking advantage of the situation as well to try and rekindle their relationship. People act like this is only a take take relationship between them. He is benefiting from this emotionally just as much as she is also benefiting from this. The people commenting the absolutely gross shit I see every fucking chapter is so tiring. The tags on manga updates are such an outrageously gross misrepresentation of this series, and just go to show how horrendously misogynistic the manga community is.

chapter 3, page 9, panel 2.

Kyou and Takaharu broke up in college and she disappeared for 17 years. During that time, Kyou got married to Minori's father, not named and not fully shown thus far, who died shortly before Minori was born, and Kyou raised Minori on her own for 14 years before coming to Takaharu at the start of the series seeking a temporary place to crash while she sought out a new apartment for herself and her daughter in the area where she's working.
