Given that she left suddenly because she had a fight with her family (about what), and the fact that the father 'died before birth, and we couldn't put him on the birth certificate', AND she chose to not contact him despite him telling her he would like her to do so - I still suspect there's something going on here.
Assuming he is the father, it makes sense; she had a spat with her family about her pregnancy (she wanted to keep it), and she realised being a parent would ruin the MC's dream of being an artist, and so she needed to leave in order to pursue a job as well as hide her pregnancy from the father, and she wouldn't have contacted him because she wouldn't have wanted to be tempted to tell him about the daughter (since she left in order to protect his career anyway)...
That said, the age issue of the daughter still makes this incredibly vague. Everything falls into place that daughter would be his daughter... except for the supposed timeline discrepancy.
