Man. That was a bit more subdued than what I was hoping for. I knew showing them lovey-dovey would probably off the table, but I wanted a bit more than the two panels they had.

Hinohara-sensei getting tricked into seeing Nagai sing during Akemi and Shouto's wedding is kinda funny, though.

Indeed. I had another look at the last few chapters of the main series and didn't spot anything more concrete than what this series ended with. Which isn't much. I'd even like to say that to make it this ambiguous is to say nothing will ever happen. A student and a teacher is a taboo subject, after all, so the default assumption is that nothing will happen, not that something will happen. If you want to say such a pair will form, then there's no use dancing around it. There's no end to students who have a fleeting, immature crush on a teacher (though 99% of time the teacher would not be aware of it, I reckon), so that's the baseline. Even the main series of this one had a specific case of a teacher turning the student down.

The only thing that would speak for this pair is Nagai's stubborn personality. He was called a delinquent of the school because he didn't care about others' opinions that much. So, he wouldn't stop chasing Hinohara because of any taboo labels. However, if she made it absolutely clear that nothing will happen, even after he grew up, he would stop. Did she? Did she not? Only the author knows but won't tell. This extra chapter revealed she never even went to his concerts. A pretty adamant way of enforcing separation and distance if you ask me, but we still won't know.

I'd like to think that since she didn't immediately turn around and leave after seeing Nagai standing there looking all smug (and her resigned, blushing expression after she got over her shock) kinda-sorta-maybe implies that she's kinda-sorta-maybe open to accepting his feelings now? Man. I dunno. I hope so.

All we have left now are those lesbians and proto-lesbians over at "Reliance" and I have no idea where that story is going...

It was another student's wedding, so she couldn't have left just because Nagai was there. We at least do know, very well indeed, that Hinohara as well did have feelings for Nagai. That fortunately wasn't a mystery, but her final decision seemed to be to never let those feelings bear fruit. If you kill such feelings for long enough, they will be greatly subdued and mostly forgotten, even if they never fully die. Total separation would help immensely, which is why she didn't go to his concerts. That demonstrates her intent to not become a pair with Nagai. He would need to destroy that determination of hers, which might turn out hurtful if she's not willing.

so my theory is if you put this before the wedding in the original manga , this happens before her speech of being in a long distance relationship with someone? i guess author is hinting at this being nagai , but we have no confirmation so...

Imagine if you were to make a series about a guy like superman before he got his powers, hoping to finally see the moment he learns and uses about them, and it ends with nothing of the sort, implying he did everything he could to not be that kind of person...then what was the point?
Oh well I already said my piece, twice, or thrice with this.

Thanks a lot for translating this Daphne, please tell me if you are translating or reading something that can fill the void this one enlarged.
