ACL tears are bad but athletes recover from them all the time. The younger you are the more likely you are to recover. Soccer players aren't an exception to this. It's possible that this story will be about her coaching the team from the sidelines, sure, but it also could be about how the only thing actually preventing her from playing soccer was self-doubt. She was, what, 12 years old when she had her injury? That's five years of recovery time while she was growing. Her knee isn't brittle and in constant danger of re-injury. It's probably just basically a regular knee at this point.

bro the title is basically her being a Regista.

Anyway, can't expect her to basically be a regista day one when Pirlo was a converted 10. Can't wait for the duo of Osanai and Haru in midfield

Come on people ... Soccer can be harsh but it's not brutal sport like rugby. Like in other soccer manga, one character got accident. His knee got crushed by a car but still allowed to play after recovery for a month. Don't underestimate medical care (in manga) :pepehmm:

Anyway, now angst is over, Haru finally go wild with her back up? And one player is very noisy. Lol

But then... why does she mention she cant run?

Is that like a mental block?

I must give credit to the author for making the goalkeeper as bad as real life woman goalkeepers…🤣

I think the title of the series (Haru no Regista/Haru’s Regista) is referring to osanai. aw sucks, I love some romance in sports ❤️❤️

I think that's most likely, a teenager may have been more mentally affected by something like that.

in real life ACL is not necessary a career-ending injury, players like megan rapinoe have suffered several injuries like that in her career, and yet she has been one of the best players, Alexa Putellas had an ACL injury in 2022 and recovered and won the World Cup in 2023, she didn't play much but it was also because she didn't fully recover as she rushed to go to the world cup, but nowadays she is still playing in barcelona and in the national team.

It remains to be seen how the mangaka handles it but everything seems to indicate that it is more mental, I mean not only was the injury but that also ended up causing fights and her parents' divorce, and that she was the object of gossip at school, if you add to that a re-injury makes it fatal for the mental state of a teenager athlete.
