I wish Koharu had found a passion outside of just her relationship with Kiyoshirou though. What was she studying in college? She was shown to be tall and pretty, why didn't the author make her get discovered as a model or something? The progression from having no self-worth to being able to be in a relationship with Kiyoshirou was very enjoyable to read, but then her character development just got stalled in the last few arcs. She didn't overcome her insecurities until the very very end, she still puts herself down, her whole life still revolves around Kiyoshirou, their relationship is not on equal grounds at all. There's a lot of wasted potential here, and it's sad that the author chose to go in the direction of drama and cliches rather than continuing growth.

Well. I just binged the whole thing in one go. And man for a romance manga called Haru x Kiyo. It should be renamed to Shimura’s POV of Haru x Kiyo. Making your MC into a side character with little to no back story. And the love rival into your story’s MC has got to be some special ed shit. It’s counter productive to the point of picking this shit up.

The Mangaka is out of their element. A novice at writing romance. You can clearly see the cliche “separate them” plot devices every conclusion accompanied with TOO MANY chapters of the love rivals inner perspectives.

Out of 36 chapters. I think I felt the “fluff” from the main pairs romance a few times.

This is a story about the rejected bonafide stalker creeps inputs on Haru x Kiyo.

yeah, the chemistry started off strong but then the relationship between the two of them became boring and far from anything remotely realistic. I still dont understand them.
as much as i hated him in the beginning, i actually ended up liking shiruma a lot more than i thought i would. Compared to the main pair, his character growth seems the most amazing (and its actually not even that great, thats how little the main couple grew in terms of character development)

It looks like everyone got their act together and just made peace. This is a peaceful ending, although it doesn’t feel like much of a payoff after the last few chapters and overarching family/being apart stress. Shimura’s words and actions spurred important thoughts and actions for Kiyo and he just didn’t seem to get the ending he deserved, even though he grew. All of the side characters’ stories seemed over. This is so much more about Kiyo and going through a lifelong test with his mother, and how he fell in love with a girl who sees their separations as a challenges, that she overcomes with her love for him. It’s not about both of them choosing what they want or fluffy dates anymore, but her choosing what she thinks is the best for him. I used to wonder how couples can be apart for so long for work and last, so maybe it’s couples like this. With her hair cut short, it feels like she’s really sure about herself and the decisions she made. I’ll miss these characters except for girl rival, who was unbearable.
