I love that when it's Mamoru being unemployed, the mom doesn't care as much, compared to when Haruko is unemployed. I've always thought it was a neat dynamic, where it's clear she knows Mamoru is capable, compared to Haruko

She knows about how Mamoru took that one burnt out guy on the trip to India. So she's not realy worried about what will happen to him in case her or her husband can no longer support their children, she knows Mamoru has the support network and the skills to step up since he was working part time jobs at some point.

Haruko though still has extreme social anxiety and no workplace experience so Mom is extra concerened about Haruko being able to handle herself in the future.
