There's a fee for disposing of used appliances in Japan?
Yeah, but it’s mostly only for electronics or big bulky stuff/furnisher like shelf or cabinet. It’s quite annoying too cause you need to apply with the city administration for trash disposal date for your items.

But like in this chapter, it isn’t that expensive cause Mamoru just need around 1000yen to disposed most of the items shown here. I think small electronics appliances like rice cooker, microwave or air fryer etc. only cost around 200-300yen and things like mattress/futon cost around 500yen each under 10kg. So I think based on my city rate, all this trash could be disposed around 900yen.

Illegal dumping like this happened a lot cause people don’t wanna dealt with the mundane stuff like I said applying with the city or calculating the accurate size/weight of your item that you wanna disposed. But on the plus side, second hand item businesses in Japan are booming making furnishing house become a pretty low cost effort.

Me personally, I just hand out my unwanted stuff to an acquaintances or sell em online, usually throwing them out as a last resort.

Idk since it was never shown yet in this manga but if we take irl for example, maybe he applied online or go to a city hall for trash disposal application so there would be a trash pickup truck come to pick these up.

Or he could just bring these trash to a landfill, which could be cheaper since you only need to pay disposal fee and not pickup fee but I doubt that considering the mattress look kind of heavy. But maybe he got some of his friends/neighbourhood peoples to help lul. Now that I think about it, if Yuki’s dad help maybe he could bring all of those as training.
