When was the last time Mamoru even expressed interest in someone, romantically? I think he's the only guy who's completely blanked out in that aspect. I get the feeling he's the kind of guy that not only really values friendship but also has a tendency to not want to overcomplicate things especially in his relationships, so just being friends may very well be the best for him.

Although I do like Ishi and Shima together; Ishi is the type to value friendship overall. If we were to be realistic about the manga then its clear that he is never going to be with someone. He's a chill guy who wants to go at his own pace in life. Its nice
