I doubt it was cancelled, CaW spinoffs never last super long. More tellingly, they almost always close up with a big story arc portraying a major issue in the host's life (cancer, maternity, etc). This volume was completely dedicated to the cat's temporary stint as a stray and all the complications therein, this was definitely planned as the last arc.
