People yelling "fire" to signal a volley of arrows is Hollywood historical revisionism. Commanders would yell "loose" or their language's equivalent until the advent of guns. You fire a bullet by igniting the combustible components (gunpowder), but you loose an arrow by loosening your grip of the bowstring.

I'm not going to expect any form of historical accuracy from this.

So what's the original translation here? If it's a mistranslation then that's not the author's fault.Anyway they already had cannon and arquebus in this era
