I'm gonna come and say it: compared to the other love interests (Yuika, Beatrice), Manon is quite inferior. Maybe it's because her arc stuff isn't in focus currently, or because her design is extremely plain compared to everyone else, but every time she shows up on screen I have to wait for the other characters to provide context before I remember who she is.
Well, her character is focused on "kawaii" appeal, being adorable and huggable. And she loves Kent for who he is, not his powers or because he rescued her.

It hasn't yet shown the real dark sides of the other girls. I could write whole pages; let's just say that Manon's smack last time was the most severe I've ever seen Manon act, while the other two girls' most heinous actions surpass it by leaps and bounds. Manon apologizes, something the other two don't do.

Yeah, unfortunately, Manon never really gets a ton of development in the WN. I hope she gets more here.

I am more with the
1. The president ->>> She's very sweet and sensual
2. Beatrice ->>> When Her reproductive instinct is kicking in.
3. The bad Princess ----> When my BDSM instict wants to roar in the wild.

Come on bro, you cant shake the candy in front of the child like this...
You will see one of them in the manga I'm pretty sure.
Beatrice's drugging and attempted rape of Kent to get him to "take responsibility". Kobolds saved him.
The other girl's problem is like a cancer that metastasizes:
With Yuika, she shows increasingly tyrannical behavior, taking advantage of how she knows Kent has abandonment issues to go as far as she can in her quest for being at the center of attention. Scolding Kent whether it's fair or not, for up to two hours, leaving his body covered in bruises from pinching (though the other two also take part in that). Yuika is a hypocrite for talking about all Kent's girls being treated fairly, but she demands to be at the top (and a certain other girl at the bottom), starting with her cuddling sessions behind Manon's back, and getting to the point of demanding Kent get a villa for him to attend to her personally. Kent compares living with Yuika, to the fate of being imprisoned by Camilla in Lastock (He actually went there!)
Yeah, I have trouble believing anyone who read into the 700s of chapters of the web novel could possibly say THAT is their "best girl".

Can you do me a favor and verify the pages populated in the right order? I'm not 100% sure but there seems to be a disconnect between pages 11 and 12.
the reason it feels like that is because this manga is released in parts
normally after page 11 the part would end and you would start reading from page 12 on the next part

The order is probably right (manon wasnt there the first time around, and the second time made it clear it was not the first time), but there are definitely missing pages yeah.

double down on the bakas and put a tranlator note: baka means idiot, but can't blame you since it was getting annoying how much people complained about it
Fairly sure they are named baka in this manga, as it is used as names each time I have seen it used here. Overall also not written the way "baka" tends to be written when it means idiot ("b-baka!" and "you baka!" and "baka baka baka baka!").

But yes, if you do use "baka" instead of translating to idiot I agree that you should always add a tl/n saying "baka means plan" and "keikaku means idiot" and all other kinds of variations :smug:
Aside from the humor, it also makes it clear that it is not being used as a name.

This really does feel annoyingly childish, which is the point, I guess, since they are children. The fact that he thought of this way of messing with her and that it's actually getting to her boggles the mind. Adult women piss themselves all the fucking time, especially after they've been pregnant or if they tend to drink alot. Hell, one of my older sisters, while half asleep, pushed down a flatscreen tv and sat down to piss all over it while her adult daughter was yelling at her to wake up. Shit was hilarious, but yea, adults know that your body doesn't do what it's supposed to do a lot of the time.

Then there's the usual, everyone is mad at the mc because a girl kissed him, bs. The glasses kid trying to be a know-it-all while not engaging with the situation at all. The outrage they show for the knights treatment of them is also kinda dumb. Drill sergeants are supposed to kick your ass a little. It's supposed to be a little like torture, that's how you get used to the constant screaming and pain your going to go through in actual combat. It's not like there isn't some inexcusable the knights are doing to the kids, going by some of the reviews/spoilers left on the novel page, atleast one of the girls is being raped and impregnated by them. However, what we see is that the guy who volunteered for the job of slapping the shit out of you is an asshole. I mean, yea, but they're still supposed to slap the shit out of you.

I know that one of the things this is praised for is that the character act their age rather than being (what the author thinks is) hyper competent or stoic, but god damn are kids annoying.

Interesting.

Kent has basically been stalking Camilla so much that he has a decent grasp on her psychology (by now he's got her daily routine memorized by the hour), appearances mean a lot to her. That's where the whole 'saint' and 'hero' thing comes in. She gets upset whenever anyone doesn't match up to her expectations, including herself. Kent's insight in this regard prevents him from making a huge mistake whilst negotiating with her.

None of these KIDS signed up for boot camp. And that guy, he's a coward during the battles, amongst other things besides training them hard. Donovan is more like a proper drill instructor than him.

And that spoiler is true, definitely a lot of drama around that.

His complaints here and with dog boy before was that they were being too harsh. With dog boy, they were signing up to be adventurers and Kent himself even got some bones broken in his own training. It feels like it's not really hitting home when it comes to setting them up as villains, since there's supposed to be worse and these are cases where they are supposed to be treating them badly for their own sake so they don't collapse into a crying heap the first time a giant bear or something slaps them into a tree.

Then, that spoiler being true and in the back of my head this entire time, I feel like the screen time spent with the little annoyances from the girls or the glasses kid and the fact that, even if you frame it as trying to get an advantage negotiating with her, he's still spending time watching her bathe and pissing on her as a prank while that is happening in the background. I know this story is supposed to be good or interesting overall but it is frustrating knowing about that and seeing these antics. I can fully understand there being drama around it. Part of me wishes they would bring it up now or have better reminders about them separating some of the kids and working them to death/sending them to die but I also think this kind of comedy would be intolerable if they did that at the same time. Even if they didn't ask for it, they're going to have to go into battle whether they stay or escape so being rough on them in training is the one thing those two did that was ok and was the thing kent thought was a step too far and stepped in for. You'd think stopping that particular spoiler from happening would be a better use of his time and abilities...

Sorry, I'm rambling but it's not like I'm not interested in this story, just a little frustrated at the humor given the context.

It's alright, some things are set up for payoff later.

Kent's plan wasn't just for amusement, it's to spur Camilla into sending out the next battle team ASAP to make the final rescue easier. With the side benefit of making her more pliable in negotiations.

Kent intervening in the training has the payoff in that his own naivete caused him to get hurt. Students were hurt like he prevented several times a day (that's what Yuika has been healing), and Kent interfering caused the guard he put to sleep to take anti-sleeping pill medication, allowing him to successfully ambush Kent.

The bickering with kids is supposed to be a break, downtime, like the diner scenes.

Dog boy is like an obstacle that can't simply be answered with force, because he's a rival, not a villain. In the web novel, he mainly served to drive Kent's growth in face to face combat ability, where he was sorely lacking. And as an excuse for Muel scenes.

フリーデ Friede
I had come across a few different translated names and after doing some research, it seems that 'Friede' is more accurate as it signifies 'peace' in German. Since there are too many instances of this name in the previous chapters, I won't be changing them, but I will update the newer ones. Thank you for pointing it out. :glee:
