If they're gonna introduce trauma this severe, I'd rather they slow burn the recovery than something like this. But I also acknowledge I'm not exactly looking at the right manga for that kekeke

Author really wasted a chapter building up a super trauma from nowhere then proceeds to have it overcome within the same chapter. I'm fucking impressed at how this much time has been wasted.
MC was literally optimistic whilst abandoned in a demon infested lower world and took everything in stride but was also so traumatised that any reminder of it was enough to make him a mewling wreck. Cinema.

Because this kid just sat and cried while literal violence happened to him and in front of him; no way he's gonna actually do anything just because a gobbo-gurl punched his brother.
I mean, he might run away and cry on his pillow?
But he is fully Emo at this point; he just needs a some greasy, unwashed black hair over his left eye, and he's ready to lay down and quit at his brother... but he's for sure not gonna declare at him.
If he has already accepted this level of behavior, and the soldiers have accepted it? That means it is fully normal behavior in their society, and this Colgate character hasn't completely withdrawn from society, or anything; he's completely accepting of how that society works.
So... it's hella weird.

It's always possible that this is a decent story that just has a dipshit moron as the writer!
Maybe it's just shitty writing?
Like... ridiculously, insanely BAD, terrible, utterly gross, shitty writing?
