The situation in the empire seems to be nearing a total collapse. It may have flourished two generations ago, but the current generation or their children will end it one way or another. Unless the reincarnated mage somehow succeeds with his plan to change everything from within.

Once you learn the magic trick, the illusion is shattered. Then other stories are impossible to read because of it.

We are getting that to be fair, in a way that makes sense. He'll be able to consolidate power and the achievements for this battle underneath himself to essentially have the frontier to himself to develop military power, resources and slowly spread political influence.

I do want that last mob killed painfully though.
