So janky ass writing and plot baits aside, the pillow business stuff is a good example of the cycles of exploitation that the manga is great at exploring.

No idea if this manga is keeping trends with current event (doubt it, since the author seems out of touch with some current dojin market trends), the pillow business stuff is getting a lot of focus in Japan at the moment. Currently there's a huge scandal with Fuji TV and one of the members of SMAP, where one of the former SMAP members was being provided women by Fuji TV. It's a huge deal, with hundreds of sponsors and advertisers cancelling contracts with Fuji TV for allowing a scandal of this size to happen.
