Hmmm yes. I completely agree but I would add something else as well. Sumire is a moron who's constantly messing up. Getting herself into trouble and falling face first onto cowshit. Yet despite all this Yuusei remains unflinchingly loyal to Sumire. Bailing her out, picking up the pieces and helping her get back up again.

Meanwhile all she had was a scumbag boyfriend who bailed and left her with debt. Her inner self is seeing this and screaming at the top of her lungs "I WANT THAT!"
