The king don't convince me, he would had killed Mikaros and Rafaed long ago, why wait so long?
Also, turn the transformed humans back? How would that be different from stopping this new world transformation? And if defending against that is really his goal, why didn't he partneredwith the Empire to work together?

The story so far makes it pretty clear that this version of the king is a back-up copy of his mind before being corrupted.
Granted. There is a plothole as Mikaros has only been alive for 1500 years while the king of control is 10k years old, but somehow Mikaros appeared before him when he was about to die? Maybe the king of control achieved immortality if he had been fighting demons for centuries prior.

Looking past that, this back up copy of the king hasn’t always been in control. They were trapped in a computer terminal and seem to have only taken over the physical form of the king within the past few decades or centuries. Mikaros was too powerful to openly oppose by that point so all they could do was subvert him and quietly wait for an opportunity (like Helck) to openly rebel. His surface goals had to align with Mikaros’ goals or he’d be found out and killed and everything would have been for nothing.

As for turning the angels back, those are new world organisms Mikaros created as the story has revealed prior. The king can still revert them if we take him at his word, but he couldn’t do so while Mikaros was alive because he had his trump card of being able to remove them from his control manually and fully convert them into new world monsters.

The king is offering to undo everything (which he benefits from too), but he’s also basically holding humanity hostage in exchange for Helck’s body so that he can become a god king who can prevent this from ever happening again basically.

So he’s not really an ally but he’s not necessarily outright evil like the other antagonists. He’s just unreasonable - granted he also is the sole survivor of modern humanity and it makes sense that he’d be willing to take drastic steps to prevent another apocalypse.

Not sure if you were being rhetorical but there’s an answer. Replied because yours is the only recent comment on this entire manga so far.

I read it in one go after the anime started, so I had not time to think about anything.
