Yeah in hindsight Tooru was responsible to keep peace in his region, with him gone the monsters got rowdy and went off in all directions to find food.

... although maybe Helck will find an answer or something in Tooru’s castle.

The humans' logic makes absolutely no sense. Even if the demons were monsters, the death of the king would still allow for the invasion through the rest of the kingdom.

It makes sense if they believe they were lied to. They were told that that was the solution, so either the hero ran and is trying to save face, or there was no solution to begin with.
