Also, with the pacing of the anime, I can't see how they will finish the story in 24 episodes.

why the hell was this started as a gag manga? They probably had most of the story set up from the start, with winged soldiers and new world organisms being there so early, so why gaslight us into thinking we were getting a fun gag manga when it was a heart wrenching tragedy in hiding?

Wait, there's some of them who can talk and conserve their appereance after heroification. Also, more misterious plot going on with the snow thing. Now everyone transforms, not only the commoners, maybe the plan goes beyond the huiman realm? To crush some threats in other countries? And then establish humans as the only race?
