If you think about it, there's no reason anything special should have happened to Edil. Mikaros himself is an example of a perfectly sentient new world organism, and if Edil awakens a second time to that, he ought to simply become the same as Mikaros, more or less, though of course with different special skills. Although that being said, Mikaros is very old, so it's natually possible he as well lost his wits at first and only regained them after who knows how long.

@Kaarme There is a big difference, Mikaros pretty much erased his Will while Mikaros himself still has his (though his desires got eroded). Basically Mikaros still has a conscious while Edil by now is just a mindless beast thanks to the spell, he is now just an extremely powerful variant of the Grunt awakened. We actually have seen something like that before with the Black Knight (which got saved so there is still hope).

@theShear Edil didn't lose his will and wits totally because he still didn't want to hurt Hyura. Otherwise he might have been quite a monster, but that was his bottomline. Also, I'm not sure Mikaros's spell was as effective as Mikaros seemed to believe. He had many such flaws where things didn't go quite as he imagined. That's a common problem for arrogant people who look down on everyone.

@Kaarme Apologies I have a rather awkward way of writing what I wanted to say was that he lowered his willpower until he couldn't resist the change.
But yeah, Mikaros called it "destroying his mind" but as we have seen it seems he is actually pretty bad at it but it kinda makes sense. His will was nowhere enough to resist the will of the world so if he uses himself as a baseline a Power that he deems strong enough to destroy someone's mind might actually be not enough for people with a really strong mind like Edil or Alicia while still having a nasty effect. He of course would be unable to see the difference.
Oh and we shouldn't forget that the difference between him and Edil was he naturally awakened while Edil was artificially awakened (which is why they turn into monsters without the Kings Will as explained in story) Edil was stronger at that point so he turned into a different kind of monster when his will was lowered.

@theShear Hmm... Quite a good way to put it, to lower the willpower until they can't resist anymore.

Haha, I wrote a longer answer, but then I suddenly realised this chapter isn't near the end. Can't go spoiling anything here. I don't even remember if Mikaros's background was revealed before or after this... Probably after?

Azudora you jobber!
He should know better that killing the Human Caster was the priority. Had he done it the war would be over.

This "will of the word" stuff looks like the chaos miasma from final fantasy, it looks like it won't be that interesting when its true nature is revealed, if that happens.

It's already not interesting. It's literally just find anyone hates this world and buffs them.
.
The goal and method are so simple that it's boring. I hope the reveal fixes that.

I agree, let's hope it's actually amazing. I guess they are relying on the character's charm to keep the interest.
In my opinion it's good enough, it doesn't have to be perfect to keep me reading.
