I really don't get why he is acting this way. The conflict between, or rather the motivations behind various parties in the story are not properly explained, beside the fact that its the way of the trope (like the implied evil hero rival or I shouldn't reveal my power level coz danger/slow life). My favorite isekai stories are the OG ones that created majority of these tropes that we see now and now I understand why. It wasn't because they had fresh novel ideas. Its because they were good stories first and foremost. I wonder if we'll ever get anything new that is good, or if its all downhill from here. Lets face it, your average isekai story can't even compete with your average pulp fiction from back in the days. Its as if the overall storytelling ability of japanese authors went to shit.

Can anyone tell me why he is so wary of hero? he has not done anything wrong till now, and we know he was on battlefield fighting for 5+ years.

Why should he spend even a second NOT botting instances and earning EXP to offset his 100x XP Penalty if not for a huge gear upgrade. In this case okay yeah it's worth it for a SoJ.
