Translator’s notes RANT:

Greetings, I’m the one responsible for scanlating this chapter. I know, I’m sorry to disappoint you with yet another chapter 1, but I spent so much time on this that I just had to see it through. You don’t have to read all this if you don’t want to, but I felt like I had to get this off my chest.

Hello, Melancholic had been in my sights since last year, but I had neither the ability nor the resources to do it. A little over a month ago, I received the green light from my group leader for this project, our group (which shall remain unnamed) is short on editors so I was tasked to do everything myself. I have always been a translator, so this is my first editing work. I got on to it immediately, scoured the Internet for guides and resources on cleaning and typesetting, learning things as I go and occasionally redo pages as necessary. I didn’t want to cut any corners because this is the chapter that is supposed to attract new readers, so I wanted to put out my absolute best work. Of course, doing all that plus cleaning up post-quarantine mess had cost my pace severely.

Needless to say, I was gutted when I found out that not one, but two people had beaten me to the punch and published the first chapter. Nearly a month of day in, day out, poof, gone, just like that. At that time, I already had half the typesetting done already, and I don’t want to look at this manga only to be reminded of that time I wasn’t fast enough. I had invested too much to give it up, so I decided to see it through in the end.

I hope this chapter can give you a new way to look at chapter 1, and I hope that by publishing this chapter, I can finally find some peace of mind so I can move on to the next project. I learned a lot from scanlating this chapter, I do not regret doing it.

As per group tradition, I made a meme at the end. It sounds really funny in my head, hopefully it remains funny outside of it.

Well, the editing is of great quality and greatly appreciated, must have taken ages with this many pages.

Could be cool if you could maybe work with one of the other groups? As proper editing and sfx really bring a manga more to life than just the text alone.
