The story was about a guy who has a paper route and creates manga and is visited by a girl who is suicidal (in the first chapter scars are shown are her wrist).
I had just gotten through where the two were out walking and when a dog approached she kicked it away. She then tells the story that her father would keep her in a dog cage for punishment.
