The best kind of subversion of the genre would be if the MC simply killed him. But of course we never get something that would be enjoyable like that, no of course not. Japanese writers/mangakas couldn't EVER possibly figure out how to write a plot that would then follow the story after OP-MC-kun actually does something smart, NOOOOO. We need to repeat the same copypasta formula as the last 500 stories with similar antagonists do. We can't possibly have villains get ganked when they should get ganked (even though there is potentially like 5-6+ other antagonists that we've already seen).

The story is cute and I love how the true heroine is part of their group, rather than le posessed transmigrator heroine is white lotus trope, so it's disappointing that they're sticking almost completely to the same formula as similar other works aside from that.
