Supposedly, it tests if the work is written for the male gaze. "If all the women's dialogue is about being with men, or serving men, or advancing the plot of the men, then they are foils instead of characters." It's not scientific and people abuse it. Think of it more like a witticism than a critical tool.What does that test?
