I know because I've been involved with the scene for years now and remember what happened when Fakku fell as well. You don't really seem to understand what drives fansubs and scanlation and how cancerous Fakku business practices are and have been and how this is a FUCKING NOT a good thing.
First of all, do you know what gets translated and what doesn't? The simple answer is what groups are willing to translate and, especially with the cuck netorare and yaoi shit, who is willing to pay. Have you ever wondered why a doujin or manga or series you like and others do hasn't been translated ever, even years later, while the most degenerate and niche shit you've ever seen is quickly turned around and translated? That's because people are paying for that, via commissions. You'll see them all the time in credit pages (well, technically not true, you USED to see it a lot, now it's not advertising so brazenly and it's like "come to our Discord" instead). And there you will find scanlation groups or fansub groups that are willing to work on whatever you desperately want for cold hard cash.
I have news for you: when it comes to Fakku doing a translation of a, say, Bota Mochito tankuobon or a 20 page work of John K Pe-ta with whatever... fucked up thing he's into that week... that John Pe-ta work is going to be so far on the back burner of things to translate that it might as well be on Pluto. That's even if Fakku wanted to spend money on licensing it and having it done. Which they probably wouldn't. And this shows in Fakku's catalog and how doujins/hentai manga are translated. Look, i hate netorare to... an extraordinary degree. I find it to be cancerous cuck shit that I'd rather the flamethrower treatment than scanlation, but those cucks like their cuck cancer porn and it's their right to want it and to have it translated as far as I'm concerned (yes, I know legally they don't have this right, I'm not talking nor do I care about that). And when it comes to Fakku... They don't give a shit about the cucks, either, despite those cucks wanting Fakku to have their way with their wallets while they sit in the corner and watch. I don't find that to be good or fair business. The cucks can't give money to Fakku and say "TRANSLATE 'My Wife Gets A Train Ran On Her By A Gang Of Mutated Dogboys That Mindbreak Her And Make Her Fall For Doggy Dick' PLEASE!" (...I made up that title on the spot and I hope to whatever deity is listening that it's in no way real) and get their product. Seems like a racket to me. Because you can petition and ask Crunchyroll for that and there have been fan efforts to get some shows on there. Fakku? Eh.
EDIT: Forgot to mention: I have heard of Fakku going after scanlator groups and having doujins/mangas of mangakas that they've licensed in the past taken down on other sites despite Fakku themselve still not having translated that individual piece yet. Which, if true, is ultra shitty and does kinda prove my point. I tried looking to find evidence of it, but couldn't find anything concrete, so don't take this as fact.

And it's pretty well known that in Japan where manga or light novels get anime adaptations that the creators don't get shit outside of the licensing fees that their publishers love to pressure them into taking regardless of how small it is (https://www.reddit.com/r/manga/comments/5f2atq/gintama_creator_comments_on_how_much_manga/). Now when you're talking about FAN PUBLISHED works? Guess who is going to get screwed? And some point, yes, it's better not to have it licensed and ask for fans overseas to buy your work to support you. Which DOES happen, and that money DOES go to the actual creator in a meaningful amount. Fakku? We can only take their word for it. Even if authors are being royally screwed by Fakku, there's no guarantee that they'll know it or even be able to speak about it from under a mountain of NDAs.
Yeah, I don't buy this argument. Fakku was huge before it even went commercial and it going commercial and pulling down any content on their site not licensed by them just spawned off even more sites and increased that further. And while Fakku is... pretty god damn cancerous and questionable, Crunchyroll has been... relatively positive (Although they have had some run ins that left me questioning whether I should continue supporting them... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQsqxTJz75Q comes to mind), do you honestly think that Crunchyroll is advancing the anime mainstream? Do you know how many people I've talked to online that have gotten into anime by seeing some random anime music video with a song that they've liked on Youtube? And that shit has been on there for over a decade now, longer that even. I'm sure there were AMVs going up before 2006 when Crunchyroll was still a pirate site. As far as manga is concerned, just look on Twitter, Funnyjunk, *chans, or Reddit if you're a hipster and you'll find memes with manga and anime as far as the eye can see even outside of areas for manga/anime on the site.
Memes have been more to propagate our weapons of moe destruction than any licensing or pirate site. Always have, always will. Because they reach people outside of the community and spread.
