Hello my degenerate brethren. ASMR is something that is rather niche even among the weeb population. That's why I created this thread so everyone has a safe space to voice their degenerate opinions and shill their degenerate voice works. Do try to keep the discussion around professional/doujin voice works and not just random youtube ear slurping videos.

There is a wide spectrum of voice works, from low quality low effort youtube ear slurping, to professional works done by mainstream/popular seiyuu. I'm a bit more versed in the latter, and now you will listen to my shilling.

CANDY VOICE

Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@CANDYVOICEASMR
Extremely high quality (and expensive without a discount) voice works. All done by mainstream seiyuu (Touyama Nao, Uesaka Sumire, Sakura Ayane, etc.). My favorite professional work of all time's gotta be this (youtube). Nothing can beat Kayamommy's angelic voice. Ok, maybe Hayamin. I will fucking die while nutting nonstop if Hayamin does ASMR works.
They have 3 main series: Necogurashi, with 5 seasons, all top-notch works; Iyaden, 2 seasons, all top-notch works; Dead of Dead, 2 works, some weird shit that didn't really catch on lol. Last work was around 9 months ago :meguuusad:

Dengeki G

Youtube: official KADOKAWA channel https://www.youtube.com/@KADOKAWAanime
All done by mainstream seiyuu. I haven't checked much of their works but it's mostly the same quality stuff pumped out by big companies. I mean it's KADOKAWA. I think half the works are promo for their anime/light novels.

RaRo (Rail Romanesque)
DLsite: https://www.dlsite.com/home/circle/profile/=/maker_id/RG49556.html
Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@RaRoASMR
I think half by mainstream seiyuu, half by eroge seiyuu (still professional, but not as mainstream). As can be seen from the name, the circle was first created mostly as a promotional project for the visual novel of the same name. But then they just rolled with it and now sell a new work like every 10 days. Damn. Haven't listened to a single work from them but my friend loves this circle.

kotoneiro
DLsite: https://www.dlsite.com/home/circle/profile/=/maker_id/RG53557.html
Youtube: Koiwai Kotori's channel https://www.youtube.com/@koiwai_kotori
All done by mainstream seiyuu. The circle is managed by our big booba genius overlord Koiwai Kotori. I have only checked a few of their earlier works but all of them are very comfy.

jyujyutto well-done

Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@user-wp1os6sc9l
A rather small circle. All (I think, or at least most) done by mainstream seiyuu. Most of their works cater to people who like big mommies, I think? I only listened to their first 3 works, haven't checked out anything new since then.

genecre
DLsite: https://www.dlsite.com/home/circle/profile/=/maker_id/RG30686.html
Only 3 works. All mainstream seiyuu. Haven't checked their newest work yet but I have listened to the other 2 for a few times now. Very well made with good story. The kitty one is :meguuusad:

Earl Gray
DLsite: https://www.dlsite.com/home/circle/profile/=/maker_id/RG36837.html
Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@user-xj4jz4ry3t
Exclusively Touhou works with professional seiyuu. Have been recruiting mainstream seiyuu for their works recently. I don't follow their works tbh, maybe I should check them out sometime.

DLsite
DLsite: https://www.dlsite.com/home/circle/profile/=/maker_id/RG44418.html
Works sponsored by DLsite themselves. All free. I think all by mainstream seiyuu? I only listened to around half of them.

Also a list of mainstream seiyuu who had done R18 works before. What you do with this information is up to you. Also no male seiyuu since like 80% of them do gay voice works because they pay much better than voicing anime. If you see there's an overrepresentation of iM@s, it's because i'm an idol master.

Tanezaki Atsumi (SPY x FAMILY's Anya, Sousou no Frieren's Frieren, Idolm@ster's Kyouko)
Extremely prolific, has been active since 2010, not sure if she's still doing R18 works?

Nanjou Yoshino (Love Live's Eli, fripSide 2nd phase vocalist)
Extremely prolific, has been active since 2006, started doing fewer R18 works once she became the main vocalist for fripSide.

Imai Asami (Steins;Gate's Christina, Idolm@ster's Chihaya)
Long time babaa, has been active since 2004. Her mental health took a pretty big hit during 2019-Covid period because she couldn't escape the shadow of her Kurisu and Chihaya roles but she's been regaining herself recently.

Kadowaki Mai (Fate's Illya)
Glasses mommy. She's been active since like 2000. Still going strong with her R18 works.

Fujita Akane (Eromanga-sensei's Sagiri, Idolm@ster's Yukari)
Active since 2016, still going strong.

Igarashi Hiromi (Idolm@ster's Anzu)
Active since 2010, no major works recently.

Ousaki Chiyo (Idolm@ster's Koume)
Still going strong.

I do have recommendations for R18 circles (which I spend a lot more time listening to), but I guess it's out of scope for this thread. Also I do have all-age recommendations for more niche circles, but you have more than enough to select from even when it's just the big brands with big name seiyuu, so no need to venture there yet. If you are interested, then check Momoiro Code. Their works have always been high quality in all aspects and decently cheap. For an all-age circle, maybe try Tomimi Retreat (DLsite / YT). Holy shit it's been 6 years since they stopped.

Been listening to these shit for 13 years, when ASMR was not cool with the kids. Hell, even being a weeb wasn't cool back then.

Bit off topic but Koe de Oshigoto! is a rather nice read if you're curious about the logistics behind how people create these works.

a while back, i listened to a few interviews of this north korean defector lady named yeonmi park. whenever someone else was talking, she'd frequently use conversational interjections in a soft voice. i think that's the only asmr-type thing i've liked.

so i understand the appeal of asmr, but the self-aware nature of audio/video labelled as asmr doesn't really do it for me. it could be the fact that the relaxing audio is constant.

maybe i'd find it enjoyable if i overlayed an asmr video with 5 Hours of Silence Being Randomly Broken by a Metal Pipe

Guess it's too advanced for most weebs. It's a rather inaccessible medium to start with, with pretty much mandatory proficiency in spoken Japanese to consume. Though, some of the bigger works do have subtitles/translated scripts, but it just feels wrong to read while listening. hvdb.me (nsfw) is a good resource. You need an invite to view download links (do not ask me for invites, just lurk on 4chan for a while).

If this comes off as threadcrapping, you started it. :meguusmug:

Because of my age and where I grew up, ASMR in my mind will always be associated first and foremost with the painter Bob Ross, who never intended to do anything of the sort on his public television show - it just happened. For whatever reason, trying to 'force' the occurrence like the whispery girls making video today doesn't work nearly as well for me as letting it happen organically in an unexpected way. If ASMR videos are your thing, that's cool, carry on, no shame from me. But the intentional videos have too much 'setup' for them to actually work well. They're a bit like expecting a jump scare in a movie - it works, but not as well as one that comes out of the blue and genuinely catches you by surprise.

I do know that. That's why I hate when people use the term ASMR for this, and I prefer to call them voice works or even audio dramas (since that's what they are, with various degrees of foley, which is where the real ASMR comes in). Though, I also used the term simply because it's what more people know of this medium as and the name kinda stuck.
This medium is as niche (and painful) as untranslated visual novels tbh. But well there's always a small chance I manage to corrupt a new mind and lead them down the path of degen, everyone gotta start from somewhere.

I listen to those sex asmr type of audios almost every night.
here's a website I use pretty often https://gwasi.com/#q=F4M . (yeah, it's reddit, I know) there's some pretty good stuff on there. however there's a desperate lack of monstergirl so I'll often take a random asmr and headcanon the girl as a monstergirl. anyone else does that or is it just me ?
