So I would like to leave my input on the happenings of this chapter since a lot of people perceive this as a borderline “cheating” scenario. I personally believe Ayane isn’t actually trying to cheat here. It might look like it because this chapter sexualizes the bath scene between her and Micchan but the reason I believe the scene is sexualized is because it is exploring Micchan’s sexual awakening. We saw in the chapter where she hides in the closet that she was afraid of the changes Sana was going through, eventually becoming curious of the intimacy between Sana and Ayane. I feel that the purpose for things being sexualized betwen Ayane and Micchan in this chapter is more to highlight Micchan’s “awakening. To be fair, the author could’ve port that a bit differenty but I think this is acceptable provided that we understand Ayane’s character a bit more. She originally refuses to engage with Sana’s friends due to apathy. She’s a character that starts off as difficult and selfish. When she plays that prank of Sana where she pretends to abandon her, she seems regretful about making her feel bad. Eventually she concedes and tries to make friends with Sana’s friends to make her happy. Ayane mentions at the end of this chapter that her intention was to get close with Micchan, as in become friends with her, so we can attribute her behavior in this chapter to her simply trying to close the gap. Again she’s doing it for the sake of her girlfriend who would appreciate that.
Hopefully next time someone comes across this chapter, it can be interpreted differently.
