Urabe being the final boss feels a bit weak since it's proven that he's just a cheater rather than a monster with extreme bullshit luck or instinct like other FKMT "final bosses". And I imagine Nishikata is someone related to Harada since he conspicuously appears in the final tankoubon cover. He's probably one of Harada's men or I dunno, his bastard son or something.

I like how Nishikata's kan trick is very similar to Akagi's direct hit against Yagi in the very first arc. Probably intentional.

The pacing on this final match doesn't give it a lot of room to breathe, it feels like we're speedrunning the necessary moments.

Agree, Harada was a much better final boss than Urabe, figured out a ganpai technique and used it to his advantage, made good decisions that greatly cornered Hiro and also clutched a tie that would've been a loss, and had a tough offense and defense in the final game.

This was Urabe's chance to show some evolution, but in the end, many other characters had more interesting matches (like Ichikawa), and even past Urabe was clever enough to defeat fake Akagi without "clairvoyance", this urabe isn't even on the level of the "17 steps mahjong" boss in Kaiji (still thinking point leads mean anything with so many 2x stacks), maybe on Nakai's level.

Spent this week reading Hero and finally caught up, many thanks to miiaeatpant for their work, really looking forward to see how this ends! I'm a bit disappointed in Urabe as the ending since I think Wan would have been more exciting on his own, but still seeing an old face return is quite interesting. I hope we get to find out if Ichikawa was the real deal eventually, and also the result of Hero's match with Ten at the start.

I like this theory of him being Harada's son, seems like he's the only big character left they haven't done a true twist reveal for despite being the other driving force in Ten.
