Damn I had a feeling but it's nice it's more fleshed out instead of happening off screen like 99% of them. I now have some stake in seeing justice happen or at least seeing how this kid is going to grow up from here.

Well what made this interesting was the mechanic dad turned hero not isekai, but the 9999th kid that lost his parent turned hero is not really that interesting. He already wanted to be a pilot already so its not even the motivation, it was interesting that it was the reverse, dad becomes the kind of hero his kid likes.

I thought this was going to go the Gunbuster route - did not expect that much development in just 2 chapters, and especially that twist, it was basically just like what I said in a comment on chapter 1. Damn, I really liked dad-san.

From here if dad stays the MC then it's possible he somehow survives and becomes able to control the Star Beasts to fight against the corrupt Feddies - I mean the Hero Organization.

Kinda agree with others, now this became more about politics and the drama of war instead of the creatures of space and how to beat them

like I would've preferred seeing a series about MC's basic dad somehow climbing through the ranks, learning about the creatures, beating it all and becoming a hero like his kid envisioned but INSTEAD we are going to get a series about MC climbing through the ranks and eventually learning that his dad was killed by the military to force a martyr to hire more recruits and somehow MC getting revenge? while navigating politics in said group....yea I'm not really found of politics in general
