poor king. he never had the chance. He became a puppet from a very young age so I guess he never had the chance to collect trusted and non-corrupt allies coz he won't be able to tell them apart. (well he did try but his family was harmed) He's lucky he still got his friend. The only chance they have is the next generations coz they could start fresh and won't catch the eyes of the enemies yet. Audit Aunt Shota Prince, I pray your success. Save your father, brother and sisters! specially the father! the guilt and powerlessness through all the years are very heavy for him. One move and everybody dies. While the youngest would be underestimated and looked over so shota aunt gets the best shot out of this!!

Abducted the bastard? With what? Dont you think that minister already planted his subject in the knight corps as well?
It would be really easy for that bastard to twist the situation, maybe even saying that the king is in magical influence by his aide, then kill Luke infront of the king as punishment

@deerafl he is a king, he can make whatever accusations and force an arrest on anyone and some of the rebels would surface and side with him lol don't underestimate the power of a king.
see chapter 4 last page, If the king only had balls and didn't procrastinate and be lazy like a bitch he could've gotten more allies like the people who are about to kill him/his family for being a pussy.
That's the thing about being a leader, you have to prove you are worth siding with.
A "king's" Inaction only breeds more enmity especially with the kingdom's status atm.

I can imagine when people already had enough and revolt, that bastard will sacrifice the king and acting as a hero that topples the 'tyrant' king

@deerafl But there's such an easy way to deal with the count. Just chop his head off when he's not looking. He's just a human just like everyone else, no need to pretend like that wouldn't work. 100 % would work all the goddamn time, if the author didn't want his stupid plot to work the idiotic way they're doing it now.

@greyhud90 how would he arrest the minister when every major player around the king is in his pocket and just as corrupt as he is? That's a reason the minister killed off all but the youngest prince, to install him as a puppet king. He had no power and was too young to make allies, and the minister controls everyone who gets near him (just like we see Hersch's maid next chapter). Yeah it'd be great if he could arrest him, but even if the king accused him, he's then be labeled a mad king and deposed. Not to mention, all his children are essentially being held hostage at all times.

@Siikalahna Kill the count, then what? The count is only one person in this big legion of corruption. There's a reason why the US is keeping Kim Jong Un alive, because if he were to die, someone else who is more unpredictable will just rise up to his position, the same goes here. Killing the count won't really do anything much because the corruption is already too well-rooted. It will pose more risk to himself with no real benefit.

@greyhud90 and who can he contact that the prime minister wouldn't immediately know. Not only that, with all the other people on the Minister's side, I bet his kids will start dying one by one until the Minister is released and apologized to. The man cares more about the safety of his family above all else, this is why the Minister has such an iron grip over him. The only reason our Hero/ine can do as s/he pleases is that no one expects anything from a 3-year old. If the primer minister knew what s/he was capable of, he'd be all over Herschy in a second.

@Solistia this is just how I would've acted when they started killing off even my kids, I'd be enraged and just act as a mad king, even madder than how he is seen by the populace.
No matter how he solves this problem via revolution or inaction it would always end up with him losing all, Its already too late.
So yeah I guess this is how the author will make hersch shine.
I haven't read the novel though, can you spoil me if this is tragedy?

That wouldnt be so easy. The count looks used to battle. And like Solistia posted, there would be another bastard steps up to replace the count, and maybe this new guy would straightforwardly kill the king, his friends and all of his family.
