kingdom's soldier aren't 100% under king command but some part are under each lord's force so if king just do something without season then they could force him under imprison with their people and even some of capital soldiers are corrupted too just royal knights not enough to fight back with force

so that why prince need enough evidence so king could have reason to deals with them and take control back to himself

and even trying to assassinate some of them ain't enough, there would be blood bath since many part of civil services have been corrupted, just kill one then other would replace them

that would link to this last reason, if prince is a person who resort to kill them all then he don't have enough qualification to have Kuro's loyalty and assassinate choice won't possible without Kuro since shadow guild would only follow money

@Woodfolk you only need to kill the head guy, here.

At the moment, the Councillor can with his illegal influence command the kingdom's Lords and their troops against the king. With him gone, each of the Lords will be much less willing to help one another, since they are all backstabbing bastards.

Once you have killed the Councillor, you can pull apart his work at your leisure - find out all his dirty secrets from his paperwork. His personal troops value only money and have little brains themselves and have no backing from the other nobles. They won't be able to stop the King investigating, especially if it is phrased as "we are trying to find his killer". And with that information you can start cleaning house with legitimacy.

He doesn't have to kill them all, just one of them. And, it is naive to think that sending people to kill renders someone unqualified. This is a war scenario, and civilians are dying because of it. Do you really think the King has a loyal secret service that would remain loyal if it wasn't meant to be used?

a one choose to follow is Kuro and if prince order Kuro to kill then won't prince be a same as his ex-employer in Kuro's eyes, Kuro's attracted to prince as how he is though

also if royalty has enough secret services to work for them then all king's relative won't died like that

but I agree in a point that if they could remove this one who act as head, they could deal with others in much more easier way
