anyone confused, her mom(i think) used to have a crush on him and her daughter has the same smile as her. he confuses her naturally sulky eyes for interest or has a crush on it? flip a coin, decide what is less weird

glad to see i'm not the only one who had to reread out of confusion. but here's what i think is going on. considering the tags i think hibari -who already has been sexualized by older men like her cousin's friend- might also be dealing with abuse from her dad. which is why she wanders around a lot or goes to her cousin's house after school, instead of going home. i'm not sure if her mom had a crush on the cousin, but maybe she assumed that cousin was looking at her in that way because since she started developing early like her daughter, she was used to getting thoes types of stares from all sorts of men and was told in response that was because "boys will be boys". so she assumed that it was only natural that even her own little cousin would be thinking like that. and even tho she might have been wrong about that, she unfortunately wasn't too wrong when it came to her daughter because he did admit that he found hibari "kinda sexy". tho with hibari's feelings, i think what's going on is deeper than her having a crush i haven't completely ruled that out. often people who are being abused or overly sexualized will think that they're inlove with only person who treats them humanely. this unfortunately makes kids in thoes type of situations more vulnerable to grooming. which i really hope doesn't happen with hibari and her cousin. i think his girlfriend isn't only jealous because a young girl is getting more attention from men than she is. but she's also worried since they've been together so long and she doesn't appear as feminine that her boyfriend might already be bored of her. i think both his girlfriend and hibari gave him the same look because they both want something more from him. i think hibari wants him to love her unconditionally and to protect her from her dad, and his girlfriend also wants him to love her unconditionally and to actually start giving a damn about how she feels in their relationship. but i'm not entirely sure yet
