The art style is okay, but is there more than that? It reads to me as a gory, visceral power fantasy for a particular kind of male audience: one who feels betrayed by the women in his life and wonders on occasion why he is so mistreated. The characters are all stock: the conniving witch, the innocent Madonna, the wordless monster. The plot likewise has little new to say, but maybe this is that sort of "evergreen story", which audiences demand to be continually reupdated to their particular time and place, and which provides a consistent source of work.
