If nothing else, I wouldn't call it a tragedy, simply because it's not like future romance isn't totally out of the cards.

I mean, it's not what the ending seemed to be implying, but it really seems all it would take would be for one of them to slip up. And then it would suddenly turn into a will-they-or-won't they gay romance...

The implication on the other hand (that a moment's errant thought might have led to someone being forever prevented from being with the one they love in the furtue) is arguably genuinely tragic, though.

On the other other hand, purely narratively, this felt like if it went for another 20 pages, they'd probably have ended up together. So, eh.

and this, kids, is why you should say "I love you, please go out with me" if you have a crush. Who gives a fuck if it's a rejection or not, because the what-ifs will eat you. Never do none of this circle-jerk stuff like this loser here just to ruin everyone's day.

This Manga reminded me very much so of a different manga by the name of Mida Love both are similar in some ways but different in others

@EnergyPear Which guy? People really need to stop just blaming the male MC in cases like this. Both were a coward and both lost out.

@Grimson-Gurdian And people like you have never fallen in love with a long time friend...that's pretty clear when you say "so what if it's a rejection". Rejections bring a lot of unnecessary baggage into a friendship...and can sometimes cause them to end. Unless you're the type that doesn't care about your friendships and only use them as an excuse to be close to the opposite sex? If so, I feel sorry for your opposite sex "friends"... :/ Also, you're another one that gives the other person a pass even though they were a "coward", too.

@Pokari The MC shows no signs of being homosexual or bi sexual. Sure he could have emotional feelings for him; but as a heterosexual, he's never going to feel attraction to him. Science fact. Hell, now that he no longer has a female body, MC will gradually come to see him as just a male friend. Childhood friend on the other hand...poor guy may never stop regretting his decision as his(?) mind was never a male or female and his sexual orientation was fluid. Real sad is just how much the eventual reveal will be to him... "Hey, man, funny thing...I actually was in love with you when you could still be a girl. Guess it's a good thing you didn't stay one, huh? Would have been awkward!" >.<

@Kami_Nana:

Quite simply: One does not have to show "signs" of being bisexual, to anyone (oneself included, really)—doubly-so for being at such an age—to ultimately turn out bisexual.

Source: Me. XD (Not a statistically significant sample, but sufficient evidence to disprove the sort of silly absolute assertions you're making)

I could go on about the different philosophies of love and gender and how they might agree or disagree with what you've said and implied, but the fundamental bit that your analysis is getting straightforwardly factually wrong—as in, zero squishy-feelings, scientifically-disprovably wrong—is the presumption of continuous (and well-understood) sexuality in any given individual (in this case the protagonist).

IF the protagonist is completely and immovably straight, of course, than it's indeed a no-go—but you don't know that any more than I do. And the circumstances here seem likely to cause some introspection about sexuality for the protagonist about that that most of us don't go through: If anything I'd say the protagonist has markedly better-than-statistical odds for "turning out to be" bisexual here. You can disagree with that logic, of course. You can even think that that's really unlikely, that's fine, we can disagree on that. The non-small text above is, I think, the crucial bit in our disagreement. (Assuming there's been no miscommunication and that you meant it all literally. Which I should hope, since you were asserting "scientific fact", but one never knows. Like when people use "literally" to mean "figuratively" >_> )

damn it, didn't expect it to end on such a cruel note...knowing Kobayashi, there probably won't be any sequel, but man, do I pray for it...
