When I was a kid, there was a family in our church who had a super short (not quite sure of the height but 4ft something) mom and a relatively tall father. The kids weren't giants but they were average for their age (meaning much taller than their mom) by puberty.

No possibility of mom having a recessive gene that got passed on? She could also have dwarfism, have been malnourished or just simply; anime logic!

Jokes aside the mom being like that explains why she likes senpai so much and teases him so. She learned the teasing from mom and already finds that size normal so its not too weird to date someone with such a difference.

Height is not inherited through Mendelian pattern. And yes you can predict how tall the children is going to be based on their parents' height. This is called "final height prediciton".

Well from personal experience. My mom is 5"4 my dad is 5"6 and my older sister is 5"2. So what's my height? 6 foot... so yeah I totally get her daughter be a giant, it's my lived experience.
