well people get drunk in one night and might not remember well the next day what they did, so i think authors use that kinda logic

Not lost memory, but I have had 'minor' illnesses that pass in a day or two that have me so feverish during that day or two that my brain don't work too good. Very hard to focus. But my point is that you can have a single day or maybe two where you are super feverish/sick to the point of effectively being bedridden, but be absolutely fine a day or two later. In reality you were actually sick before the fever, and are probably still sick after 'recovering' but are just symptom-less other than that one day or two of high fever.
