Probably retroactively trying to make up for abandoning her kids lots of people do this where instead of trying to fix relationships they broke in the past they try and create a simulation of that old relationship to "get it right this time" that said she's still terrible I'm pretty sure she's abusing Himawari considering she's asking a high schooler for money and yelled at her for not wanting to get her cigarettes only to act all nice right afterwards she's awful I'm glad the girls don't have to deal with her
