She's making others questions things in ways they did not before (this is a mostly standard way these Mangaka do this for whatever reason, introducing a new character this late). I'm only describing the reason the author put her in the story. Whether it's done well is another thing. I'm just saying this is what her purpose will likely be and we already see it affecting three characters (now including Omi).

I would say that her being a kid is also meant to make her obviously non-threatening but I guess it's not totally out the realm of possibility that the author treats her as a real potential love interest. I'd doubt it though. Like I said, they seem to have tipped their hand already about her and Omi (which is probably another attempt to signal that this girl is a non-threat). Although how old is Omi anyway?

Ah I see. Omi I would guess is around 16? since she wears Hino and Koguma's uniform. If you meant Rin (the little girl) I'm guessing based on looks she is around elementary school.

Yeah I think another thing to remember is that a love triangle needs 3 people in love with each other. Hino shows no interest in her and likely never will, so it doesn't matter if this girl likes her. Now if Hino starts seriously considering her romantically then it might be different. Even then it's not going anywhere.

Right, so basically her love is not really relevant or "threatening" but it's just there to push the story if I understood correctly.

Ok, I was on board with the joke of this loli being the "new love rival" until she opened her mouth and said her reasoning. That is quite possibly some of the dumbest reasoning I've ever seen and my suspension of disbelief will never recover. Like, at the end of the day, the kid is just a plot device to progress Kogu and Hino so she doesn't really need development but if you're gonna do it at least not make it so fucking stupid.
