And because status is an abstract, intangible thing and he's still a child, he doesn't really
feel like there's anything different about himself and yet everything else is. In short, the nibba wants to believe it wasn't all lies, but at the end of the day it was all based on a lie, and he's conflicted emotionally, frustrated at his change in fortune, and he's about to potentially never see his home again so he finally lashes out in a somewhat confused way.
