It really is seeming like the inhabitants of that world are innocent and naive - even their history of wars is nothing more than old fables to them.
Alternatively, perhaps their attitudes during war were so grotesque and immoral, that they don't even dare to acknowledge them, sorta like Germany and WWII (but on steroids).

In Germany, this is taught clearly in schools. It's not hidden. In Japan, it's different. I know there's a lot of whitewashing when it comes to many of the atrocities they committed in the past, but I don't know to what extent that's actually done.

@killari3211 I don't think it will be a tale with a true dark ending, for one simple and admittedly silly sounding reason: the interaction with the cat. The inclusion of those silly moments is showing to me that the mangaka doesn`t go full corruption of paradise story. Like you said, I think they will definitely dive deeper into that direction. Already in the pilot the Kemo wanted to execute him, so the tone range was from the beginning pretty grim. But as they include a lot of silly side stuff, I can`t imagine that they will destroy it all.

But let`s see, this is definitely one of the best mangas I am currently reading. And honestly, if the mangaka indeed releases the full darkness and corrupting influence of humanity, my respect to them for pulling through. Too many stories go "And the power of friendship saved everyone" (which can be really great, but only if done right).

I’ve actually ignored that first chapters setting while reading bc (I believe?) this was a one shot before becoming so popular it justified more chapters. One shots tend to rush through stuff bc of their short nature so instead of you ignore it, the story has been fluffy with undertones of “fear” from animals and now we are starting to get hints of that “corrupted paradise”. So who knows but yeah I don’t want anything bad to happen to our kitty ;-; I’m just saying it would make for a reallly good story direction

Ah, I was moreso talking about the shame and disgust of one's own history in that regard, rather than hiding it.
I had thought about mentioning Japan, who seem to never even talk about their atrocities during the war (to me, they seem to win the competition in being the most cruel during WWII), but I felt the German example fine enough and left it there.

Regardless, the historical shame was my point, not the hiding.

we'll have to see what kind of explanation the author comes up with for why, in this world, wars are nothing but "myths" nowadays.

The brief explanation given by Dr Drill was that the different types of Kemo were sufficiently distinct that they didn't compete for territory because they weren't all after the same resources. Like how humans don't (usually) compete for territory with crows or cats, because they eat bugs and rodents and such, and we don't care about protecting the supply of bugs and rodents and such. It's a little incredulous, considering that once farming or pastoralism is invented land is potentially valuable to everybody, regardless of what their specific diet might be, but it does kind of make sense.

Maybe there were prehistorical wars of such scale and scope that they passed into myth, while simultaneously enshrining an aversion towards war in the Kemono's culture. Like their version of a creation myth.

Anyways, I like Minister Ham a LOT. His enthusiastic love for pushing forwards technology, his dream of rocketry, his tragic backstory of having funding pulled before he got his breakthrough, it's all super cool. I hope he gets what he wants. The Kemo deserve to dream of the stars.

It could all be bait to lure us in so that the gut punch lands extra hard with war ruining the world maybe having him bury her or vice versa especially if he needs to die to stop the war.

War as a myth, huh. Yeah, I don't think this will go somewhere truly dark, not with the world we've seen up to this point. But it's a perfect ground for some grand misunderstanding. There's no way Hitoshi is buying a total lack of history of war, not with the creatures he's seen and how they behaved. My money's on him expecting some horrible secret or heinous warcrimes being suppressed, when in reality the touchy stuff would be political or simply somehow embarrassing culturally.

So war in their world are "myths"... Does that mean in a distant past wars are rampant or worst?... I have a feeling that their wars are the same as how animals in human world... Maybe territorial wars between same species or a war between predator -prey...

"Then everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked." peace never lasts for ever and unity doesn't guarantee peace.
It'd be extremely weird if there's never been another war since the primitive wars.
